Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine is an area of medicine that aims to exploit the potential of the patient’s cellular biology to propose autologous tissue regeneration therapies to restore the functionality of lost tissues.

In human regenerative medicine, blood components are very useful in tissue repair in all cases of tissue inflammation, tendon and ligament injuries, skeletal muscle diseases, locomotor system diseases, genetic and degenerative diseases, thrombotic diseases.

The continuous search for therapies capable of promoting the regeneration of damaged tissue, has highlighted the usefulness of PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma), which contains a high concentration of platelets that are able to secrete a large amount of growth factors to favour cell repair mechanisms.

Another technique recognised in this field is adipose tissue grafting, which is recognized as a consistent source of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC); the grafting of such tissues has found regenerative applications in many specialised clinical fields, such as plastic and aesthetic surgery, degenerative and neuro-muscular diseases, cardiac pathologies, arthritis and arthrosis.

Eltek has developed a range of solutions to simplify and automate sample preparation procedures and reduce the risk of bacterial contamination:

  • The CPunT system is a CE marked medical device that allows separation into a closed system and collection of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from anticoagulated whole blood.
  • The FATstem Preparation System is a CE marked medical device that allows to collect, process and obtain a stem cell concentrate from lipoaspirated adipose tissue.

Cpunt System

The CPunT system is a device that allows separation into a closed system and collection of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) from anticoagulated whole blood. It is a medical device consisting of a medical electrical machine, one disposable and the centrifuge.

The medical electrical machine and the corresponding centrifuge are available in three versions, adapted to the three disposables, 60 ml, 20 ml and 10 ml.

Intended used of PRP

PRP is a blood component used in many specialized areas for tissue regeneration. Its ability to improve healing is due to the release of growth factors and bioactive proteins that are present in its various components: platelets and plasma. The molecules present in PRP also have a balancing action of inflammation, reducing pain over time by improving the inflammatory state.

Advantages of using the Eltek PRP (CPUNT) System:

  • Easy System Operation: Limited possibility of error by operators.
  • Optimisation Of Separation Times.
  • Standardised Process: Automatic separation cycle, use of optical sensors.
  • Closed System: Reduced risk of microbial contamination.
